Abstract

Although this study might seem to be an exercise of microhistory lacking of a wider projection, the unknown evidence usedsheds light on the Basque-Navarrese collectiveness in mexican lands in the tumultuous first forty years of the twentieth century. Thanks to different publications such as Euzkotarra (1907-1909) and Argía-Luz (1934) as well as to reports of the management bodies of the Basque Center, and a profuse bibliographic research, we can provide a historical review of the political confrontation in the Mexican Basque Center, and have a better understanding of the reasons that lead to the creation of the Basque Circle in the city of Mexico.
