Abstract

The first Congress of History of Navarra, that took place in 1986, was created as a consequence of the development of the History in the previous decades and with the need to put in common the results. However, the unanswered questions related to the Antiquity were still significant. The most important topics were: the ethnic configuration of the Vascones, the frontiers of their territory, expansion, development during the Late Antiquity and specifically their participation in the Bagaudic Movement. During the fast last thirty years an important advance has been made in this area. Nevertheless, there are still a lot of questions about it and, as a consequence, new research lines are attracting a great deal of interest.
