Abstract

Juan Rena was a treasurer for Castilian tax office in Navarre (1512-1539) and held numerous positions in Finance, the Army, Navy and the Church, until he was appointed bishop of Pamplona (1538). The rich documentation of the Rena Archives in the General Archive of Navarre allows to study the integration processes of Navarre in the Hispanic Monarchy in the first third of the sixteenth century, and the relationships Navarre had with the rest of Spain and Europe.
