Abstract

Since 1585, year in which the ad limina visit is institutionalized, the Bishops of Pamplona didn’t make this ecclesiastical practice personally. Although it was very common in the rest of the bishops from the Catholic world, the Bishops of Pamplona made this practice by proxy. The Olitense Pedro Cirilo Úriz y Labayru was the first bishop from de Diocese of Pamplona traveling to Rome for making a visit (1867). This bishop was an example of the connection between the caput ecclesiae and the local church.
