Abstract

There is nothing better than Art to resemble the fact that Navarre has quite a global projection throughout History, as there are many examples of both international artists whose work lies in Navarre and also artists from Navarre who have transcended borders in order to develop their work. One of the latest, José López Furió (1930-1999), who was born in Valencia, turns out to be the most prolific sculptor in Navarre during the 20thcentury, with over 300 statues scattered around the region. From his workshop in Pamplona, he made hundreds of religious sculptures, which ended up in several locations, including the rest of Spain, Europe, Africa and America. Even though his work is not yet very popular, it certainly reflects that we are dealing with a high quality artist, who definitely deserves the attention of the academics.
