Abstract

From the point of view of contemporary historiography, there are gaps in both the historical and artistic aspects of the church of Sta. María Magdalena. Nevertheless, change in the visual and historic perspective would permit to infer a central position to the ensemble in the context of the Reconquista. While authors analysing the building have assumed the construction to be a sole process that took place in the last decade of the 12th century, there is enough evidence that permit to question both the characteristics of the construction and the chronology. That would imply assuming the temple as a key tool for the transmission of the image of power and the Reform to the city during the second and the.
