Abstract

Miguel Maria Daoiz y Nederist, born in Barcelona in 1768, elected canon of the cathedral of Pamplona in 1789 and dead in 1851, was the last nurse of Pamplona, also dying with him the dignity of the infirmary.

A diverse range of manuscripts covering all sorts of topics may be found in the cathedral’s archive. Remarkable examples are those of a medical and pharmaceutical nature. We publish them in their entirety, accompanied by a study of the figure of the nurse canon and an analysis of the pharmaceutical knowledge that may be distilled from the manuscripts. It is worth noting that some treatments show a clear French influence and that the documentation may be dated 1776-1819. Up to eighty products..
