La mujer en la epigrafía funeraria de la Navarra romana: ¿integración en los modelos culturales procedentes de Tarraco? [The woman in the funeral epigraphy of The Roman Navarre: Integration in the cultural models from Tarraco?]
Abstract
We analyze a concrete aspect of the Tarraco’s Latin epitaphs mainly in the 2nd and 3rd centuries: the epithets applied to husband and wife. Their different semantic content, the absence of several virtutes praised in contemporary Latin literature, and the diversity in their application according to sex, allow us to analyse the esteem of women in the family in the capital of Hispania Citerior. Once this is determined, we will compare the results of our statistical analysis with the data collected in the funeral epigraphy registered in the current territory of Navarre in order to establish if this area was circumscribed to the cultural influences coming from the capital.
