Sindicato Católico de Obreras (1912-1937)
Rama femenina del catolicismo social navarro [A field of women’s social Catholicism in Navarre]
Abstract
At the beginning of the last century, the practical development of the principles of the Church’s social doctrine led to a truly extraordinary growth of associations by areas. Among the many societies that were part of the social Catholic movement, there were also initiatives directed towards the specific field of women. The Sindicato de Obreras de la Virgen del Camino, an association structured in professional guilds, initiated this feminine organizational path in Pamplona that lasted from 1912 to 1937. This article studies the origin, the tasks and the evolution of this field, which was mainly centered on devout and welfare work.
